On August 30th, a large group from ILV visited the Xa Loi Pagoda, the site that was the center of opposition in August 1963 when 400 monks and nuns were arrested. We also visited the Jade Emperor Pagoda, which was built in 1909 by the Cantonese community in Saigon and has statues depicting dieties from the Buddhist and Taoist religions.

We had a wonderful time on this outing! A big Thank You to Mary for setting up this outing, and to Cindy for getting us all together and giving the group such great background information on Buddhism and Taoism. Photos have been posted in the Photo Gallery. Have a look!
